Notes:
Okita is based on a well-known historical figure of the same name.
This release of Okita is not the same headmold as the version released at Hometown Kyoto Dolpa 5 in 2008. This version is an entirely new headmold; it is a new take on the same historical figure by a different design and sculpting team. Both versions have exactly the same name in Japanese. The only differentiation between the naming of the two releases is in the English -- the original was romanized as 'Okita Souji' while this version is romanized as 'Okita Sôji'. Fans have chosen various ways to refer to the different releases, such as "Okita 1st" and "Okita 2nd", "old Okita" and "new Okita", "young Okita" and "older Okita", etc.
Okita is a part of the "Echoes of a Beautiful Banquet" story arc along with Ushiwakamaru, Amakusa, Genji and Hijikata.

Story:
"Revere the Emperor, and expel the foreigners"?
When Japan first opened its borders to the world, there was much confusion and conflicting political movements during the Edo period.

In the imperial city of Kyoto, it was without a doubt a time ripe for upheaval.
And the form of the "Shinsengumi" that appeared in the dark of night...

150 years later, the true flag of this group appears once more, tonight, in the city of Kyoto!

Vice Commander: Hijikata Toshizô
First Troop Captain: Okita Sôji

These swordsmen sought their own path in the battle, staining the end of the Edo era in blood.
Their way of life was fleeting, vanishing like scattered petals... and yet so very worthy of being remembered...

"Sôji, is everything ready?"
"Hijikata-san, you're going to get scolded by Master Kondo again..."
